David Bellingham

cauliflowerlamp, 2020-22

Jesmonite cast

14.5cm x 14.5cm x 18.0cm

Edition of 13

£180 each

David Bellingham's cauliflowerlamp is neither a functioning light bulb nor a functioning cauliflower. cauliflowerlamp is a surrogate: a likeness in place of a bulb: a throw of white florets in the place of a throw of light.

One of a series of objects made by the artist exploring substitution or surrogacy. A visual encounter with unexpected consonances, the cauliflowerlamp can be displayed as an autonomous object or set into a lamp housing.
