Mortar from Pestle includes a readymade pestle selected by the artist, and a porcelain mortar shaped by the form of its pestle. Begun as a cube of clay, shaped  by the pestle before being fired and glazed, each mortar is an indexical accompaniment to the pestle. Drawing attention to process and the properties of materials, Mortar from Pestle exists as a functioning pestle and earthenware mortar, and as a visualisation of the process of the work's making.
