The Window-Sill Paintings are part of a series of painting-objects which exist in relation to architectural space. Drawing upon histories of performative practice and minimalism - Shirayama cites Franz Erhard Walther and Sol Lewitt as influences - these works describe portals and transitional spaces, describing changing perceptions of inside and outside, whilst speaking to the eye, body and hand in inviting changing arrangements over time.
